Linda Blair

Linda Linda LindaLinda Blair, who was only five at the time, had grown accustomed to being in the spotlight. As a model for children before becoming an actor, she was selected for the part as Regan the possessed girl, among 600 hopefuls, in The Exorcist, (1973). Linda rapidly gained international fame, won the Golden Globe, and seemed to be destined to win an Academy Award for that role however, when the film's leaks revealed how some parts of the role weren't performed by her (the evil voice was created by Mercedes McCambridge, and eight seconds of a stunt dummy used) this dream fell apart and that, along with the disappointment probably came the first blow to what looked like the start of a successful career. Through the years, she was in a position to get lead roles in an array of movies. They included the highly successful television series Born Innocent and Sarah T. (also known as Portrait of a Teenage Alcoholic and Exorcist II - The Heretic. The actress was detained and sentenced to three years of probation following peer-pressured her into purchasing cocaine as she was turning the age of 18. Linda was removed from Hollywood following the widely-publicized drug bust. Her career soon became reduced to B movies as well as guest television appearances.
